More tag problems

    Hi,

    I’m having some issues getting the more tag to work at all. If you could please make your way to roncya.com (heavily under construction, sorry) you’ll see what I’m talking about.

    For the post titled “Dear technology”, there is a […] in place of where the more link should be. Also, the […] actually doesn’t cut off where I’ve placed the more tag.

    Another issue is that line breaks don’t show on the front page. You can see that this post has line breaks that don’t show on the front page.

    I figure it’s some kind of error relating to previews. My Reading setting, ‘For each article in a feed, show’ is set to Full Text. Changing it to summary has no effect.

    Could anyone please help me with this? Thank you all in advance.

    That’s just part of the theme. It doesn’t have anything to do with the more tag or summaries unfortunately. At least I have a way of getting to the post, but the main page is clearly not working properly.

    click on posts and click edit post you will see your post click your mouse where you want break than press Alt+Shift+T and update and check see if you have a link continue reading

    I tried that too and it’s just a shortcut for the Insert More Tag button. The post has a more tag, it just doesn’t do anything on the front page.

    which one is your front page as when I go on site I see the post page.

    if you want your front page that is Home to open than you need to go in settings and reading and select static pages
    and
    front page select page from dropdown
    post page select your post page

    and save.

    your theme’s index.php and possibly other files are using `the_excerpt~ which by default uses the 1st 55 words of the post only

    to get the read more to work, you will need to change to the_content

    Govpatel, by front page I meant the main page, sorry. I was just talking about the main page as opposed to the full post. Haha- funnily enough I just gave someone those same directions to make a a static front page: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/using-a-page-for-index-page?replies=3

    Samuel, I’m going to look at that now. It sounds like exactly what the matter could be.

    Samuel, I’d like to tell you that I’ve been struggling with this for months.

    It’s all fixed now, just had to chance it to the_content in the main page template instead of the_excerpt.

    Thank you so, so much. Thank you govpatel for continuing to give advice too!
