• Hello,

I seem to be going around in circles trying to find a USPS shipping plugin that will pull live rates, use my item’s weight and package size info, and possibly be able to select specific items that could go into USPS’s flat rate boxes. Also, as a bonus, if there is a way to flag an item that if purchased separately, it needs a shipping fee and if purchased along with something else, it ships without additional cost.

I realize I can install some (many?) premium plugins for a trial/money back agreement and have installed so many basic or free shipping plugins, that I am now wondering if there is a plugin that is more popular with USA based wp-admins to help me narrow down the list before going forward.

    Any help appreciated…

  • Is this for a WooCommerce site?

Check out WooCommerce Services; it’s free, it syncs with USPS and works pretty well:

For the custom product/shipping pricing for a specific item purchased by itself or with other items, you’re looking for “dynamic pricing,” which I’ve implemented a few times with this (premium) extension:

If nothing else, this should get you pointed in the right direction for custom coding a solution if you’re looking to avoid a paid extension.

    Thanks cleancoded.

Yes, this is for a relatively new WooCommerce site. I did have WooCommerce Services installed before they stopped providing the live USPS rates, but they no longer provide this as of the release of WooCommerce v.3.5.

Although I don’t mind paying for the right plugin (free is ok, too :-D), I seem to find a plugin that looks promising, but then I find it doesn’t cover one thing or another. Presently looking at ELEX WooCommerce USPS Shipping Plugin with Print Label.

Many plugins look good from a menu page, but am finding most have been closed with a note of “Reason: Guideline Violation”. Not sure what’s going on there as I am new to WordPress/WooCommerce.

I didn’t realize this was no longer included in WooCommerce Services, that’s a bummer.

After reviewing several options, including a couple premium plugins, the official USPS Shipping Method extension, which I realize is $79 for a single-site license, is probably the best option for calculating USPS shipping rates (depending on your business needs):

Here’s a video I created adding WooCommerce and the USPS Shipping Method plugin to a new sandbox install of WordPress:

Your video really helped me out to see how things are done. Thank you.
