• I don’t know why these features are missing.

    • “Duplicate” or “Clone” link below the Post and Page title
    • “Duplicate” or “Clone” link after menu title on Menu
    • “Add to Menu” option box on the Post and Page right sidebar
    • Real registered user role management on Post, Page and Plugins. (Access, Exclusion, etc.)

  • You might be confusing WordPress core features with features added by various plugins. For instance, the ‘Clone’ link below posts is added by a plugin called ‘Duplicate Post.’

These are not basic functions, they are only available with a plugin. Why? That would be good if we used a few plugins, right? ??

Not everyone needs every feature. Plugins exist to meet your specific needs. So yes, just add plugins for the features you want (unless you know how to code them yourself).

These are not extra features. It would speed up daily work. Lots of plugins = slowing down website. Why do I need a separate plugin to duplicate a menu, for example? Or to add a created page to a menu within the page? Not lifelike.

If the feature was implemented in core, then it would be the same code as if it was a plugin.

Lots of plugins = slowing down website

Plugins are not inherently “bad” or slower. The code is the code, no matter if it is in the core or in the plugin.

And the number of plugins you use is irrelevant. It’s the code in them that can be fast or slow. Several duplicate-post plugins exist, and some of them are very fast indeed.

This is only partially true. If these features are part of the WordPress system, the code will also be good. I didn’t write that plugins are bad. But if there’s an unnecessary amount of it, they’re sure to slow down the page. This is a measurable fact.
