Movable Type to WordPress Migration (Finally)
-
I’ve been blogging for a long time. I started in July of 2002, and have been pretty good about making updates every single day since then. I originally rolled my own blogging approach, then switched to Movable Type.
Around two years ago, I decided to move over to WordPress. I ran into some issues, and kind of shied away from taking the plunge until a few weeks ago (after finding Robin Dalton’s MT converter plugin).
I was able to successfully migrate nine years’ worth of content – a little over 7,000 blog posts. Suffice it to say, I feel like a proud papa. What’s weird is that this WP version looks pretty identical to the prior MT version… which I guess is a good thing, all told.
I’m using Thematic, and I’m sure my CSS is kind of a nightmare… but it does the job. Anyhow, here’s my site:
Now that all my data is more or less migrated over, I’m looking forward to actually doing a real, honest to goodness redesign. Just wanted to share in my excitement to finally be on WP after all this time…
