• I’ve been searching all night and I can’t find a way to easily move my existing blog from WordPress.com to my new server. Is it possible? I don’t want to lose my comments, and I don’t want to have to manually add all my posts. Please help.

  • I am not that familiar with the hosting at WordPress.com, but as long as it will let you export your database, you should be able to do it.

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Backing_Up_Your_Database

The options are all explained there.

There is also a plugin listed there to back up the database, in case you do not have access to PHPMyAdmin etc..

alas… db exports are not an option from the good folks at WP.com yet.

Best option is to go with the RSS import function. At your wordpress.com blog, go to options->reading and set a large number for the syndication field. (how many posts to show) and then use the new install’s import option to grab that feed.

Thanks, I was just looking into the option. I was afraid that the answer would be that I couldn’t do it. Hopefully this works out okay. Thanks for your help.

    Ah good thinking Handy! ??
