Move domain to a new-built wordpress installation

    Hello!

    I have an issue I can use some help with.
    I recently took over a clients website from their previous marketing/webdesign agency.

    The website hadn’t been updated in 4 years. To avoid breaking everything I built a new site on GoDaddy hosting.
    Now I want to use their domain, which is connected to the “old” installation.

    However, when trying to connect the domain by adding the A-record, and adding the domain in the settings section of the new GoDaddy installation. Nothing seems to work anymore. I was able to change back the settings, so everything works again. However I still need to connect the correct domain…

    What am I doing wrong/what would be the correct steps?
    Any help would be appreciated.
