    Hi there

I’m using an old plugin called Simple User Avatar to give my users their avatars without needing gravatar. We’ve just added buddypress to the site for some other functionality, and since Simple Local Avatars is no longer a supported plugin would like to move to this plugin instead. Will we be able to transfer existing local avatars to work with this?

We have over 60 users so would prefer not to lose avatars and have to reupload. I’ve found a hack that would allow us to carry on using simple local avatars for buddypress directory etc, but it won’t work with mentions (mystery man used instead)

    Any ideas/thoughts appreciated

    John

We’re not familiar with Simple User Avatar.
BP Local Avatars does not handle or convert existing avatars.

It sounds like you’ll need to write a custom function that copies and renames your existing avatars.
Use BP to upload a new avatar for one of your members.
Then ftp to …/wp-content/uploads/avatars/[member id] and note the naming convention used by BP.

Once you’ve converted all your existing avatars, BP Local Avatars can handle new signups and make local copies of any gravatars.
