• The information you have posted in the “Other Notes” tab here on your WordPress plugin page really should be placed in a tab named “Changelog” like others have done.

This makes it easier to find out what’s been changed.

It’s especially helpful for those of us who use ManageWP to manage our client’s plugin updates so we don’t have to waste time hunting down the Changelog.

Currently, ManageWP can’t see that information. See screenshot.

  • Agreed.

I’m not a ManageWP customer but I can’t (and wont) upgrade a plugin without seeing what was changed at a glance and I shouldn’t have to go searching for this info.

Please follow the best practice and start using the changelog tab.

Since Disqus doesn’t seem to be very active here, I also submitted this to their Community Q&A on the same day.

This is the response I got 2 days ago (6/8):

We will bring this information to the attention of our team, and determine if it can be implemented to improve Disqus.

    Hello Disqus,

I see you guys released a new update: version 2.79

Any chance you can start using the changelog feature here on www.ads-software.com?

I need to know what changed before I feel comfortable upgrading your plugin for the websites I manage.

Just adding my voice here — seeing a changelog is an important factor in deciding whether to update right away (risky), to wait a couple of days for any potential issues to emerge in the support forum, or if it can safely be left until the weekend maintenance window.

    Agreed with mpclark.

So did they reinstate the security fixes?

2.79: Reinstate changes removed by 2.78
2.78: Security fixes, Compatibility for WP 4

Agreed.. why can’t they just follow the standard? The change log should be the very first thing everyone looks at. Annoying to have to come over to www.ads-software.com, click on another tab just to read this.

Looks like they rolled back the changes they just implemented? That means they probably screwed up. I am holding off on upgrading sites till I see 2.80.

    Hi all,

Thanks for the feedback, we’ll look into using the changelog for future updates.

Regarding the change between 2.78 and 2.79, 2.78 introduced new security fixes but reverted some changes made a few months ago. Specifically these changes:

    https://plugins.trac.www.ads-software.com/changeset/1012379/disqus-comment-system/trunk/lib/api/disqus/disqus.php

    https://plugins.trac.www.ads-software.com/changeset/1012379/disqus-comment-system/trunk/lib/api/disqus/json.php

Ah ok… thank you for the update and clarifying on the security fixes.

    Great!
