• Hi guys,

I had been working on my wordpress site locally for sometime using Mamp, when my macbook fried. I managed to remove the hard drive and now have access to it as an external storage. I have an alternative windows laptop that I would now like to transfer the local wordpress to, but I’m not sure how I can go about that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance and I look forward to reading your advice!

  • Windows now has MAMP so installing it on Windows and moving over your files from the existing file structure should be a good place to start.

Gonna be hard. You need to get the database file from MAMP. The files for the site by themselves are useless without the DB.

You can pick up a MacBook or iMac real cheap online.

Thanks Hudson, that’s what I’m worried about. Even if I do get the files, changing all the paths to be able to access them through wordpress is the troubling part.

I suggest finding someone who has a MAC and getting your database

If you have the DB, you can use a utility like searchReplaceDB2.php to make the URL changes in the db.
