Move #secondary before #primary

I’d like to move the #secondary element before #primary by modifying my child’s php files. How can I do so?

In the index.php file, I’ve tried moving <?php get_sidebar(); ?> before <div id=”primary” class=”content-area”> but nothing changed.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
