• Someone please help! I am a technology failure and the “easy” install to move to a self-hosted platform is all greek to me.

I originally setup my blog with wordpress.com and purchased my domain name at that time. https://reviewingwonderland.com

I have signed up with DreamHost for my hosting services, which it says it did, I originally created a new domain (which I have now deleted because it didn’t work), installed the WordPress plugin and tried to export and import my content. The content would not import into the new domain.

When I log into my DreamHost site, it says that my site is fully hosted, but I still log in and edit my content through wordpress.com, so limited functionality.

I don’t know what to do next.

  • you are in the same boat as me!
I am also a computer failure and have almost given up many times, be patient!! I’m almost done with this process!

@hroniclesofkate.com: It is extremely impolite to interrupt another poster’s thread with a question of your own – especially when you have received a great deal of help over 4 topics of your own in the past day! Please stick to your own topics.

@revwonderland: You need to point your domain name to your new self-hosted site. Bear in mind that it may take up to 72 hours for the changes to take place once they have been set in motion and that you will not be able to access your new, self-hosted, site using your domain name until the changes have been fully propagated..
