Move Slider to Left

I would like to find a way to move the slider over to the left so that it lines up with my blog posts (I have removed the left widget panel). I am using Twenty Fourteen Extended which allows me to modify the size of my slider so that it’s a bit smaller, but it looks strange in the center of the page with my content aligned on the far left. Also, is it possible to move my widgets on the right hand side further up towards the menu? I don’t like how far down the first widget starts (my about me box). How can I minimize this margin? See here on my homepage: https://leavesfromthevine.com
