• ok, so im basically wondering how i can move the buttons in the below picture to the marked ares of the blogpost AND how i can close in on the spacing between each of the social-buttons?

I am NOT using any plugins. i’ve added the buttons manually to single.php

and yes, i do want them to be addded for every single blogpost i do, of course.

    here’s the picture: https://bildr.no/view/1383816

  • What theme are you using and do you have a child theme set up? Modifications to any theme files should always be made in a child theme — so that your changes are not overwritten when the theme is updated.

    I am using graphene theme.

and now i have setup a child theme.

    now what..?

also, are you talking about that when i update wordpress itself, my changes will be overwritten, or will it happen only when i update my theme..?

Theme. Yes, if you want to modify a template of your theme (in order to add the social icons), you need to use a child theme.

o…k… but so far i have added style.css and single.php to my child theme… since those are the only one’s i have edited. any other files i need, hmm?

now, back to my “problem”.. now how do i manage to move those buttons to the post itself, as i described in my opening post? and how to correct the spacing?

i also found out that the social sharing toolkit-plugin lets me add the buttons just as i want to, BUT… the share button is showing the amount of likes instead of amount of shares…. and the plugin owner does not reply.. gah…

Using a plugin would be a much better solution. What’s the site URL?

yeah, those would be exact words about 12 hours ago, but nah… there are NO plugins who does the very simple job of adding SIMPLE small/medium sized like, tweet, share, g+1 and email buttons! SO many different plugins but NONE are doing the job correctly. the closest on is that plugin called ‘social sharing tollkit’ which does almost what i want to do, but that crappy share-button is working as both share AND a like-button combined, which is wrong! i just want it to be lined up as simple as i.e on 9gag.. simple buttons, simple actions.

so. if you do know how to fix that or have suggestions, i highly thank you for that! i also thank you for assisting me with this, mr. much appreciated.

    site url is shookiemonster.com

You don’t have a child theme active on that site, so that would be the first step – don’t make the mistake of modifying theme files – you will totally regret it later.

im sorry about that, but NOW it should have a child theme in place! ?? and for now, i’ve just got the style.css there…

    now, what’s up next?

Ok, which of the .php-files can I at least try working on to test the code so the social plugin-buttons appears on top of each blogpost? Which files?
