I had godaddy.com (my host provider) do the “one click” install of wordpress on my domain. That was successful, but the blog is now at https://www.mydomainname.com/wordpress and I want users to be able to access it at https://www.mydomainname.com. I tried to follow the help steps (and I looked at some of the support forum postings) but I am really stuck after step #5 where you’ve changed the blog address url and updated options. (I even have wordpress for dummies and they stop at this step as though it’s all you have to do to be able to access your blog without the /wordpress). Where are the wordpress core files and what does this address look like that I’m moving them to and how do I move them? I can find index.php in my ftp client’s window’s wordpress folder, but I can’t find an .htaccess file(s). How do I view my root directory? How do I know if I have set up Permalinks? What I would really like is for someone to explain it to me as if I am the dumbest person ever or someone who has never seen a computer before. Please save me from tearing my hair out!
