• The WordPress sites I manage have been set up in a subdirectory
    example:
I want to move them into the root directory e.g.

    I have read the
    Instructions for moving wordpress
specifically “Moving Directories On Your Existing Server”
which seems a pretty good instructional, but I’m wondering if there are any particular things I need to be aware of / careful of.

One thing in those instructions I’m a bit unsure about is step 11 “Existing image/media links uploaded media will refer to the old folder and must be updated with the new location”. What is currently the best way to do so, noting I am NOT an experienced developer ??

I’m fortunate I have /wp to test/practice on. It’s my blog under construction (but live) as one I’ve sorted it out I also need to do

Cheers all and thanks in anticipation of your assistance.

  • Since almost my beginning with WordPress, I’ve run most of my installs from sub-directories using these instructions.

    Giving WordPress Its Own Directory

It makes for a more orderly installation.

I recommend you consider this since you already have everything in the sub-directory. Just follow the directions in Method II to make it run from the root domain.

What that does is put just enough of the system into root to let the WordPress run from root with most of itself still in the sub-directory.

When done per the instructions the WordPress will run as landyvlad.net which is what you want I believe.
