• Hello

Basically the title. I’m a wp newbee, and have been tearing my hair out trying to find a solution to this.. but to no avail. I’m hoping someone here can maybe point me in the right direction..!

    My site here: https://newquaybaitsupplies.co.uk/

I’ve ftp’d the site to the server fine. I’ve exported my database fine, and imported it back into the new php admin fine. This gets the site up and running as it should (as in all text, prices, and plugins animating as they should be).

But I lack images. If I go into a post and look at the image path, it is set to my old image path:
    https://nick2:8888/wp-content/uploads/products_img/

So the logical thing to do is surely change https://nick2:8888/ to https://newquaybaitsupplies.co.uk

Wrong.. doesn’t work. It only changes the lightbox images, and no the cover (so basically clicking on blank to reveal.

I’ve made an example here (click on a blan image box):
    https://newquaybaitsupplies.co.uk/?p=84

I’ve tried replacing all with search-and-replace.2.6.1, but this only completely erases the image path file (so the site is then left with text everywhere as the image holders are null.

I’ve tried Settings>>Media and replacing the path file there, but no joy again. This is like 3 days now, I’m not getting any closer to a solution, and am loosing a shed of hair.

I also deleted the database, unzipped a new one and manually “find & replace” each https://nick2:8888/ with nhttps://newquaybaitsupplies.co.uk/ Imported again, but this left the site with no image holders again (so uploaded original database).

All readable and videos tutorials I’ve followed to a T. They fire up (images etc) straight away.. but I must be missing some vital here??

I forgot to mention, the slugs are also missing (but are viewable via Dashboard>>Categories). Does anyone know why they aren’t appearing in the address bar as they should? This makes me think I haven’t exported the database correctly or something..?

I feel I’ve exhausted every possible angle..

Any help or tips are very appreciated!

    Thanks and regards

    D

    Hi Samuel

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately this one is crossed off the list (tried search-and-replace.2.6.1 it only erased all image paths instead of replacing).

I’m now thinking it’s a problem with timthumb, and my server.

strange as I just used the plugin on a client site they moved and it worked flawlessly
    you may be correct

I have no doubt about the plug-ins ease of function. It’s highly recommended across wp forums and articles. Just wish my story ended there! I’m now going to put this to 123-reg and see what they have to say.

I’ll update this post if that is the problem (or whatever the prob turns out to be).

    Regards

    Perhaps try this plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/velvet-blues-update-urls/

    Never used it. Caveat emptor.

    Hi apljdi,

Forgot to mention; tried that too. This one actually has less options compared to search-and-replace, and so looks a little more quick and straight forward to use (I think just automatically searches entire database). Although both are easy to use.

Good tools to have for the future, but alas, not fixing current issue (which again makes me think server conflict/tim thumb?).

    Regards
