• I switched hosting from GoDaddy to HostGator. Went into GD and changed the nameservers. Edited the wp-config file with the new database info. Now when I go to the admin page, I get a blank white screen. What did I do wrong. I have done this before on another site without this result. Did I miss a step?

Maybe I should add that when I try to go to domain/wp-admin, the URL changes to domain/wp-admin/install.php

Not sure if that helps any, but worth a shot. The white screen is worrying me.

    Have a link?

    Here

    Thanks!

Probably either missing files or more likely a file Permissions issue.
    You need to check that.

How do I check a file permissions issue? Sorry to sound like a dunce. I do appreciate your help.

I can’t help ya, but I will congratulate you on your choice of switching. I switched as well. GoDaddy’s hosting was simply terrible.

I checked via Filezilla and it appears that all the permissions are set correctly.

I compared the files from the old hosting account to the new one and it looks like all files are there. Do you know what files in particular would be missing? Perhaps I’m over looking it/them?

    Thanks again!

First thing is you Index.php is not the default file. You have an Index.html so wordpress will not work.

Might be a bad set of files. Have you tried re-copying files? And they are the correct version for the database you moved over? That is the number one cause for this problem. Should ask HOW you are uploading? WHat FTP client or other program? ASCII or Binary upload?

You also need to check the error logs. Might give you a PHP error that will be telling.

Re-check your wp-config.php. Might be somnething as simple as a misplaced semi-colon.

Also you coud try renaming the .htaccess (temporarily) and see if that fixes it.

Lastly, rename the plugins directory to plugins.bak and create a new EMPTY plugins directory with the same permissions.
