Moved to another domain but…

  • Hi
    Had a .info domain and got a .com .
    Exported and using WP built-in importer, imported the xml file.
    all went well expect my images r linked from previous (.info) domain.
    I want a completely new website without any dependency to the prior one.
    Will it be Okay if I copy UPLOADS directory to the new domain? or what…!?

  • You first need to edit the XML file before importing into your new site. In a plain-text editor, do a search and replace for any references to the old domain and change it to your new domain. Re-import.

    BTW you do need to copy over your uploads folder as well. Easiest way to do that is via FTP. Make sure the uploads folder is called exactly the same thing on your new install.
