I want to copy my website to a different directory on the same server my current website is on. I want to change the DB username amd password. I have imported the DB into a different named database, changed the data in WP-Config but the database will not connect. I changed the Option file in DB to match name of development site. In other words I want this to be completely seperate from my working website, so theres no chance of causing problems with the current site. I have sent hours Googling with no success. Thanks for your help.

  • Hi there @ron441241 ??

Thank you for contacting Woo support!

I want to copy my website to a different directory on the same server my current website is on.

You can clone your site to a staging environment and perform tests without modifying your live site or impacting customers. Many hosts provide staging facilities, so it’s worth checking in with them.

It’s also possible to do it using the free WP Staging plugin.

I trust that points you in the right direction, but if you have more questions, let us know.

    We’re happy to help.
