• Hello.
I had standalone site up and running fine and then the business expanded and I needed to seperate the site into branches. I did this by changing it into a multi-site with a sub-domain for each branch.

So now I have https://www.mysite.com and newbranch.mysite.com. However currently all the posts, customers, uploads, etc are all on the main site. I really need to move these off to their own branch sub-domain so that I would then have originalbranch.mysite.com, newbranch.mysite.com and https://www.mysite.com left for clear for me to start adding info about the entire network.

Does that make sense and does anyone have any idea how I can do this?
I imagine I have to use phpmyadmin to move the posts about, but to be honest I wouldn’t have a clue where to start with that.

  • Probably the simplest way to do this is to use Tools -> Export to export the site from the root, then use Tools -> Import to import it into the subdomain. Once you’ve done that, just go through the root and delete all of your posts and pages from there to start over again.

Ah! Ok, so that only exports / imports the sub-domain and not the whole network?

I really hope I have been that dumb!

Will give it a try, cheers!

I think it is timing out (I have a lot of data on my main site). The XML file coming out is 1k in size and upon importing I get:

Sorry, there has been an error.
This does not appear to be a WXR file, missing/invalid WXR version number

Managed to get it exporting by doing a smaller section at a time.
I can now import everything, but my products (from my Jigoshop shop) have no images linked to them anymore. 8(

I’m guessing there must be some other way to do this.

Iiick, you didn’t mention those. Is Jigoshop using CPTs?
