• I will be moving my WP 1.5 blog (hosted by iPowerWeb) to a new Yahoo Hosted server with WP 2.0. Beyond following the “Moving WordPress to a New Server” instructions, do I need to be concerned about the version differences? When I drop my database and files on to the new host with 2.0, will it work the same? I saw on the upgrade instructions that deactivating the plug-ins is important before an upgrade. Should I do this before moving my blog to an upgraded version? Is there anything else I’m missing? Any advice is appreciated, I just want to do this right. Thanks…

    You should indeed. Very much!

    will it work the same?
    No, it will not work.

What you are missing is: you should always export/import DB in between the same versions!

So: install the same version on your new place and import the DB, then upgrade.
Or, upgrade on the old place and import the upgraded DB to the new place.

I’m curious, what’s your opinion of Yahoo Web Hosting?

Search the forum – it doesn’t work, but there is a post on the main page with red background (sticky) telling you how to search.
