I have a WordPress site with Woocommerce. I made a backup of the production site creating a subdomain “dev” of the live site. I installed a new theme and created a new site design on “dev”.
I am now trying to move from “dev” back to the production site with the new design.
I am wanting to migrate the new site design but keep all of the production Woocommerce data that has been generating on the production site since I have been developing the new
design on “dev”. I am not finding a way to achieve this type of migration.

Are there plugins, tools or a method I can use.

I have search the forum but not finding a listing that matches my type of migration. Most of what I found is to replace production with dev, but I am needing to retain the production Woocommerce data.

    Thank you,

  • Hello @mooreinteractive ,

    I understand your expected result.

However, moving a certain part of the site is a difficult task if you have not used the right tool at the beginning.

If the change is only was to use different themes then you can simply take the theme files from the dev site to the production (see How To Safely Change Your WordPress Theme). If you have used a page builder to make changes then they might have an export-import feature to migrate the configurations. So, look for that.

There are several staging site plugins available that can help you migrate and sync changes between the dev site and production. Try them out if you need to create a dev site like this.

    Thank you ??

Hello Rashed, thank you for you reply.

Do you have some suggestions on the staging site plugins?

    Kirk.

    Hello @mooreinteractive ,

I would first suggest checking with your hosting provider. Many hosting services has staging site feature within their control panel.

On plugin side, for regular staging management this looks good – WP STAGING. If I need to do a site migration then I normally go with Duplicator – WordPress Migration Plugin because of it’s easy to follow steps.

    Thank you ??
