Moving from HTTP to HTTPS: identify hardcoded HTTP elements
-
Hi,
Until recently, my company’s website has been hosted by an el cheapo provider that only offered very basic HTTP hosting.
Earlier this summer I setup my own dedicated server with CentOS Linux, Apache, SSL and a LetsEncrypt certificate and moved my site to this new server.
Web browser like Firefox don’t display the green lock symbol in the upper left corner, which would mean that everything on the site is basically encrypted. Instead, I get a yellow lock, which means that some page elements are still using HTTP instead of HTTPS.
The site is using the Zerif Lite theme. I just spent about an hour skimming through all the pages and identifying all the hardcoded elements (mostly images) on the various pages and moving them from HTTP to HTTPS.
Now there still seems to be some HTTP stuff left, and I can’t seem to identify it. Maybe some of you who know WordPress better than me can identify the elements and tell me where I can switch them from HTTP to HTTPS.
Cheers,
Niki
