Moving from site in subfolder to new domain (at root)
-
Hi there
I have been trying unsuccessfully to move a site. It’s currently on a subfolder. I wanted to move it to a new domain, and move it into the root directory. (in preparation for putting it back on the root of the original domain, and make some other changes)
These changes are going to take some time, so I didn’t want to do it in situ.
Now however I am getting very strange URLs and have lost all my styling. I suspect it’s all related so here is the sort of thing I am getting with my URLs…
mydomain.com/wp-admin/mydomain.com/wp-admin
when what I wanted was mydomain.com/wp-admin
Why am I getting the double-up in the URL?
I’m also sometimes getting redirect loops taking place.
I checked in PHP MyAdmin and the site url is correctly showing the root of the new domain. I also can’t see anything untoward in the .htaccess file.
I was able to get to the dashboard, but with no CSS styling. I thought I would try re-saving the permalinks, but now I’m left with a 500 Internal Server Error.
What am I missing???
Thanks, Brett
