Moving from Subdomain to Primary Domain
-
Hi,
I registered a domain name, but as didn’t want the site to be visible until it was finished. So I created a sub-domain, where I installed WordPress and created the site. (That’s at, eg. website.mydomain.com) All good, site is finished and now I want to move it to the primary domain.
I’ve set up the hosting in the primary domain and have copied all the files from the sub-domain folder and to the primary domain folder. I changed the WordPress Address in Settings -> General to point to the primary domain (www.mydomain.com) and hey presto – everything stops working.
I’ve gone into the db directly and modified the WordPress Address back to website.domain.com and it works again. But I just can’t figure out what I need to do to get it to work.
I’ve read a few articles about moving WordPress to a new server, etc. but this doesn’t cover what I’m doing. I see in my db that all the posts are still set to website.mydomain.com – how to I get them to change?
Many thanks for any answers!
WP.
