Moving my website from background to front

Hi there,

i am making a new website in the back of the current one. Like this www.example.com/wordpress/

with example.com being the current and under WordPress i made the new website Wich is not yet online. Now i am close to finishing the website and i was wondering if this is a job i can do myself. I want the new website Wich is now behind the current one to become the main website. So from https://www.example.com/wordpress/ to just https://www.example.com.

What do i need to be looking out for while doing this and maybe where to find some easy guides to be doing this. I have full access over the website/FTP and hosting provider.
