Moving News WP Subfolder to Whole Site WP Driven

I have a website that is PHP driven. I installed WP to support the Blog side of the site. I have now decided to have the whole site as WP. The problem is how to configure the site in WP (IONOS)?

WP Blog: https://www.mydomain.com/latest (server: /clickandbuilds/mydomain)

Site: https://www.mydomain.com (server: /mydomain)

I created a static Home Page and set the Homepage in Reading Settings, but got 404 errors and couldnt access the WP Dashboard. Had to edit the WP_Options database table and switch back.

Another issues is that I would like to keep some of the php pages and not convert to WP. How can I impliment that please?

Can anybody please advise what actions I need to take please as the setup is confusing with the different locations of the source files.
