moving page

  • if i have a page /event-list and want to make this home page, can i rename the current home page url so it is /event-list so that nothing changes regards indexed pages, so other than content changing i will still have home page and old home page will be the /event-list

    currently my home page is FULLCALENDAR so not great for SEO so i want to put that page where my /event-list is then my old event-list becomes home page.

    Or is it better to create new page and 301 it?

    You can use the setting in Settings > Reading to set your home page.

    hi yes, understand that, but as the /event-list would become the home page, can i rename url of the old home page to /event-list so that so far as google is concerned page remains but content changes rather than a 404 for the page

    you can probably do that, or create a blank page. you’d need to change the original page slug too.

    yes so the old front page change slug to /event-list
    then i still retain a front page and /event-list but with different content
