Moving photos

In a gallery with a number of photos, if you add a new photo and want to move the photo to be one of the first photos to appear on the page (e.g. in a date order), you have to add the photo which appears at the bottom of the list and then move the photos one at a time up the list which can be very time consuming if one has a large number of photos in a container. Is there a shorter way than ‘swapping’ photo places one by one?
