• I want to move my blog into my web-site. I have been running them, separately, for quite a long time and want to merge them. Both are WordPress and are self-hosted domains.

I only want to move the posts and comments (hopefully to include the categories, but I only have a few and could probably recreate those, manually). I don’t want any of the menus, forms or anything else.

So, when I’m exporting, I see that the “All” option says it includes everything, including navigation menus. But the Import option doesn’t mention anything about menus.

The bottom line is this: I want to export my www.ads-software.com blog content and import it to my www.ads-software.com web-site without it changing any of the setup on the web-site. Is this possible?

Reading the Codex, I didn’t find exact descriptions of this so if someone can link me to a Codex page that give more details, that would also be great.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • You are aware that moving them will change all the URLs? So you need to make sure you don’t have overlapping names that would make the rewrite rules not work right.
If you don’t export the categories, you’ll have to manually assign them later. Or just do it in batches of one category at a time so you can put them into the right destination category.

If the core import/export (it’s really a plugin, but sort of built-in) doesn’t do what you want, search the plugin repository. There are a lot of plugins that give you finer control of what goes in or out.
