Moving posts to a new version of wordpress

Hi,

I have a blog with about 25,000 posts running on wordpress 2.8.5. I need to move the posts,comments etc over to a new blog running 3.1.3.

Does any one know of the best way to do this? I don’t think the import/export will work with so many posts so would have to be via sql.
