• Hi,

    I’m trying to move a wordpress site i’ve created (www.pyroptix.com/WORDPRESS) to https://www.sparkfire.com

    I’m following instructions on https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Moving_WordPress
but stumped on this section under Moving WordPress to a New Server:

    2. Go back to your OLD blog and go to Administration > Settings > General and change the url (both of them) to that of your new site.

    3. Again, download your database (but keep the old one just in case), upload this new database and the copy of the wordpress core files with the edited wp-config.php to your new server. Thats it!

If I change the url in the admin console I can no longer access the Tools panel to download the database (using the WordPress Database Backup plugin)

How can I download the database without accessing the admin console

  • using whatever your host provides. Usually it’s phpmyadmin, which you can access in your host control panel.

Log in on server go PhpMyAdmin and click on database and export your database as file on your computer and do the same and import the file to new host with urls changed.

or you could use backup feature if you using cpanel I have article and video on my website click on my name How move wordpress to new host server
