I downloaded your plugin and it seems to be working with one exception.

    1. I cannot get it to set the permalink category in the url as only the sub category. For example:

    if I have this post:
    website.com/gear/post-title/

and add a subcategory called ‘widgets’, and select ‘widgets’ as the permalink, it still makes the URL this:
    website.com/gear/widgets/post-title/

If I select ‘gear’ as the permalink, it works correctly by making the url this:
    website.com/gear/post-title/

    2. I am planning on moving a main category under another category, thus making it a sub-category. Ideally I would like to keep all posts with their existing URLS. For example if I the category ‘food’ under a parent ‘lifestyle’, I want posts to remain like this:

    website.com/food/post-title

    instead of:

    website.com/lifestyle/food/post-title

Is this possible with this plugin? both of these issues are similar, just different means of arriving at the problem.

  • Hi pedalingnowhere,

Sorry for the late reply. Regarding issue #1, this is actually the way the plugin is programmed, and the reason is to avoid category conflicts between the same (slug) category and subcategory.

Regarding issue #2, I would suggest to change the preferred permalink to the parent category.
