• Hi everyone,

I’ve been building a new & updated version of a website (www.domain.com) in a staging environment on a subdomain (dev.domain.com/wp) and I think I’m just about ready to have the new website replace the old one. That is replacing the content currently on https://www.domain.com with the content currently on dev.domain.com/wp

What is the best practice to:

    a) Remove the content on https://www.domain.com but keep it backed up just in case
    b) Transfer the content of dev.domain.com so that it will appear on https://www.domain.com
    c) Transfer all blog content that was previously uploaded to https://www.domain.com so that it appears with the new content?

Thanks in advance for your help

How can I get the content on dev.domain.com/wp to appear at

  • Delete your old files by keeping a backup. Upload your new files to your domain and change your db settings to point to your old content.

    Thanks for replying Dheeraj.

Would it be possible to be a little more specific? (Total newbie here).

When I open my cPanel, I see a bunch of folders and files, including a “dev” file which is the subdomain I set up and created the new site in.

    This leads to 2 questions

    1. Which file (s) containing the new content currently hosted at dev.domain.com/wp should I download (in order to upload later to the root domain)

    2. Which file (s) containing the old content should I delete /backup and where can I find them in cPanel?

Also when you say “change your db settings to point to your old content” I assume you are answering the “c” part of my previous question. Thanks, but how do you change your DB settings to point to your old content

    Thanks,
