Moving To And Choosing A New Host.

My web host is using an outdated version of wordpress. They do not meet the minimum requierments to upgrade. I’m thinking of changing hosts but have a lot to consider. I’m comfortable with my current host which is easy to use and has built in ftp access. Uploading files are a breeze. I’m currently doing a Genealogy photo blog. I’ll need space for storing lots of uploaded photos. My site is already listed on search engines and the thought of submitting it to search engines all over again is one of the things which keeps me with my current host. If I could keep the old site going while getting the new one firmly established that would be good, but would I need a new domain name in order to accomplish that? Any advice you could give me is greatly appreciated.
