• Hi guys,

Hoping you can help with my query

Using firezilla FTP to move a wordpress site to another domain, again using wordpress, but it doesn’t seem to be working. I’ve forced the URLs in the wp_config file but all content (including theme) I’ve built on the old URL isn’t pulling through to the new one, though I’ve transferred all files (including the updated wp content) to the new domain

    Old domain rachael-knight.co.uk/trigeminal-neuralgia – to – my-tn.co.uk

What am I doing wrong? Is it because I’ve got both set up and I need to delete the old one?

    Many thanks in advance
    Rach

I’m not sure what that means.. In the past when I’ve moved sites over, I downloaded the database, changed all the instances of the url there and then uploaded the new db.

You don’t mention the database. Did you move it’s content too?

Hi Christine, thanks for your reply. I haven’t touched the database for either; both are hosted using one.com but I don’t bother with that. I only bother with the FTP; I didn’t think I had to?

If I don’t force th*e URLs they default to the original one; the one I don’t want anymore.

If you have access to the phpMyadmin, look at the wp-options table. You’ll find the siteurl and home url in there. These should point to your new url.

Thanks again. I’ve got access, and have changed the siteURL to the new one, but still not working. Is there anything I should do re FTP?

    Thanks

    HI Rach,

I just tried to go here – https://my-tn.co.uk/wp-login.php
and I can see the login. Have you tried to login? Maybe try resetting the permalinks and the theme?

Hi again, thanks! I can log in like that, but only if the URLs are forced. If I don’t force them, it redirects to the first URL, bizarre. When I log in, it’s an empty canvas whereas I want it to move all my current WP content over. Trying to make sense with a one.com live chat person…!
