    Folks,

I am looking to move to a brand new WP install, but looking for suggestions on the best approach.

What I would like to do is move over just the data/media I am currently using on the site. I have over 10 years of data in the DB and media that I haven’t used in ages. On smaller sites, I would simply start from scratch, but this current site is over 200 pages and around 800 posts.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to move over just what is needed?

    Thanks in advance.

  • You could use the export and import features included in wordpress. More details here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/importing-content/#wordpress

After exporting posts, you can import them into the new installation and also download the media files contained in the posts. So you only have the media files in the new installation that are actually used. Exception are files directly linked in the text, e.g. PDF files. So it also depends on your content.
