• Currently I’m trying out WordPress as a possible alternative to MT, and I’ve come up with a question I can’t seem to find an answer for. Install WordPress files and blog in different directories seems to explain how to move a weblog from https://example.com/wordpress/ to https://example.com/, but will this same sort of procedure let me move it to, for example, https://example.com/blogname/?

  • Me too me too, how do you do this?

    mcurry,
I did it myself by connecting to the mysql database and updating the wp_options table. My host provides a handy PHP interface to do this, but I can give you the mysql commands if you want them. If you dont get any other help (or want this done asap), send me email,

I had MT on a subdomain and wanted to move WordPress to the subdomain. So I logged into WP and went into Options > General Options and changed the URL to the subdomain I wanted under WordPress address (URI): and Blog address (URI):. Then logged out, and of course got a 404 error. Then logged into my website’s control panel to switch WP to the subdomain and move MT somewhere else.
That did the trick for me.
    Hope that helps,
    Z

A caveat… It looks okay, but I still cannot login. Investigating now…

uh, sorry that was my issue. Wrong password. Things are working fine.

My host does have a PHPMyadmin interface that I can use to make changes to the database, but I’m not sure what you meant by “updating the wp_options table.” Did you just change the siteurl (row 1) to the new one? Or do you mean that you followed the Install WordPress files and blog in different directories directions and then also took this step?
