Moving WordPress to a new URL

  • Hi,

    I want to move my website to a new URL and not sure how to do it. Would it be worth just copying and pasting everything on my old site across to prevent any issues occurring? Or is there an easier method?

    I’m not entirely sure what the difference is. I’m looking to keep the website content the same, but just have a different URL. Could you explain what you mean by moving the site to a new place on my domain name please?

    Are you using a different hosting account for the new site? Have you reviewed Moving_WordPress?

    No, it’s the same hosting account, just a change in the website address. I have read that article before, but I couldn’t identify where I fit in. If I have to do the 15 step guide, then I have no idea where to start.

    Once your new domain name has been pointed to your WordPress and has fully propagated (which can take up to 72 hours), see Changing_The_Site_URL.
