moving wordpress.com blog to my own domain
-
Hello all! I am very new here. I’m a designer and am realizing I need to get into the WordPress world with all of you. I started a basic blog on wordpress.com (https://primaldesigner.wordpress.com) and just created everything there. Today I bought a new domain name (primaldesigner.net – already had hosting service for my own website portfolio so I just added it) and now I am wondering if I can transfer the blog I already have over to the new domain.
If I understand correctly, when I upload WP onto my new domain, I will then have access to plugins and other features not available on wordpress.com, correct? That was the main point of me purchasing the new domain.
My question is, what install process should I go by? What do I need to do differently to attach the blog I already have to this new domain? Once I FTP to my site, can I still edit it online via www.ads-software.com (or .com?) or do I then just edit the HTML/PHP files directly? I appreciate any and all direction and advice. Thank you!
