• Hi,
I have a challenge to overcome, and been looking for a solution for long now, many people suggest that we should move our wp-config.php ONE LEVEL above its normal position. I know one way of achieving this may well be to go with Multisite installation BUT I don’t want to do it that way – it’s hard for me to get my clients understand that.

    Regards,

Moved to Fixing WordPress, this is not a Developing with WordPress topic.

If your WordPress installation is on the file system for example

    /var/www/vhosts/client1/wordpress/

And you move their wp-config.php one level to

    /var/www/vhosts/client1/

Then that will work but it doesn’t really by you anything security wise. If your site is compromised then the location won’t matter. It won’t hurt but may make your support model more difficult.

    Try these steps.
