    It could be a conflict with another plugin, or potentially an issue caused by a browser plugin.

    Just to update anyone reading:

    The problem was that the files needed to be shared in Drive itself as ‘Anyone with the link can view’. Otherwise, when not logged in to a Google account that has permissions to view the file, it cannot be displayed. In this case, saconi happened to be logged out of Google in Firefox.

    If in doubt, sharing as ‘Anyone with the link can view’ should allow everyone to see your embeds!
