I uploaded a 43 MB mp3 file to my staging site media library and added a link to it on a page.

The file plays fine on the staging site, but after I push to the live site the link gets a file not found error. However the file is there in the media library and looks identical to that on the staging site.

    Any ideas? Thanks very much.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • On what page and section of that page on the live site can we see the link to the mp3 file?

Hi Jamie, Bottom menu, far right “Historical Items…” Member password is CharterOak. Then the last link under Historical Items (“Interview with…”). The link is to a mp3 file in the media library. It works fine on my staging site, but won’t play on the live site.

    Thanks for your help.

    1. Check File Path: Ensure the file path on the live site matches the staging site.
    2. Update Permalinks: Go to Settings > Permalinks and click “Save Changes” to refresh permalink structure.
    3. Regenerate Thumbnails: Use a plugin like “Regenerate Thumbnails” to fix file paths.
    4. Re-upload the File: Delete the file from the live site and upload it again.
    5. Check .htaccess: Ensure your .htaccess file on the live site isn’t blocking the file.

Deleting the file from the live site and adding it again worked. I thought I had tried this before. Hopefully the next time I push changes from the staging site it won’t get screwed up again.

    Thanks for your help!

I had similar issues in my site which is basically a tool based site for coversion of videos into mp3 files. Mp3 Coverter are really important tool that we need most often. Particularly when we like audio trac of a video and want to use it as background sound in another video than mp3 coverter is best solution for such needs.
