• I had JW Player working well b4 the update. After the update to 4.3.1 I updated the plugin but now all it says is “[PLAYLIST not found]”
When I go to JW Player it shows the three playlists I had made before, under their names. But when I go to the actual post/Page there’s a number associated with the playlist…not a Name.

I tried making a new playlist….it looks like it was made in MP3 jPlayer (another updated plugin installed)…but no go either.

    I also tried just including a single MP3 in a post/Page…it won’t play!

    Argh!
Seems like I need to activate SOMETHING some how.

    Help!….and Thanks!

There are quite a few JW Player plugins for WordPress.

Specifically, which one are you using?

    Thanks James for helping.

In the old WP version I had a number of playlists made up using the JW Player plugin. This were, and still are, under their names Media/Playlists. I updated JW Player after updating to WP 4.3.1 but when I click on the link that should find the list and start JW Player it says “[PLAYLIST not found]”. But when I go to the actual post/Page there’s a number associated with the playlist…not a Name.
    For instance see https://www.narayandance.org/friends-of-the-friend/

So I tried making a new playlist….this time in MP3 jPlayer (another updated plugin installed)…but no go either.
This is at the top of page https://www.narayandance.org/sing/

    Then I tried simply a single MP3 in a post/Page…nothing happens!
This last is at the bottom of page https://www.narayandance.org/sing/

    Thanks again James!!!

I’d love to help, or at least point you in the right direction, but as mentioned, there are quite a few JW Player plugins for WordPress.

Specifically, which one are you using?

What is its name in the Plugins section of your blog’s Dashboard?

    (@etwaldman)

    Ah!!!…helps if I read!!!
You’re asking WHICH JW Player!…I didn’t know there was more than one.

I just went to Plugins in my Dashboard, it says
JW Player Plugin for WordPress Ver 1.7.2

    THX!!

    Moderator James Huff

    (@macmanx)

Ah, it looks like that plugin no longer exists. It would have been: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/jw-player-plugin-for-wordpress/

Which probably explains why you’re having so many problems, it’s likely out of date and full of bugs. ??

These two look like they have potential, or at least they’re more recent. Maybe give them a try?

Thanks James….I will give one or both a try….in a few hours and then get back to you with results

    (@macmanx)

    You’re welcome!

    (@etwaldman)

Well the new JW-player-7 was easy enough to install but I’m afraid I can’t even figure out its first Settings question:
Add the url of the file jwplayer.js
How do I find that url??
Then the second Settings question is
    JWP Licence Key
It says it’s free, I clicked on it and it wanted me to set up an acct, I did and clicked on the Free version and I got, and pasted in an API Key….I wonder is that my License Key?

I see JW Player is primarily advertised as a video player, I only need a good MP3 player (But I remember the old one was also primarily a video and it worked as a MP3er….until it didn’t.
BTW I deactivated the old one….and the Playlist option on the Navigation Panel disappeared.
Good grief! You may be able to tell I’m not too swift with WP

Have you tried WordPress’s built-in audio player?

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Audio_Shortcode

    Thread Starter etwaldman

    (@etwaldman)

hmm….I followed the instructions on the link you gave me and pasted in this code
    [audio src="https://www.narayandance.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/HandsOpenHeartsOpen.mp3"]

Which is the correct address for this mp3 in the media library

    go to page https://www.narayandance.org/sing/
    and see NOTHING appears
I took away the [ ] and then the code appears but nothing is clickable

    yhx for being here!!

    Thread Starter etwaldman

    (@etwaldman)

    Sorry….it does appear….but it doesn’t play!

    Moderator James Huff

    (@macmanx)

Hm, so that’s interesting. That’s not even remotely near WordPress’s player, I wondering if something else is hijacking it, because the MP3 itself does play.

Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Fifteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Thread Starter etwaldman

    (@etwaldman)

    Thanks again James.
If you look now I pasted in
    [esplayer url=”https://www.narayandance.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/tete15sec.mp3″ width=”100″ title=”TeteMalkutakh”]
which is something that was still working on another page…at least it plays!! (But I want Playlists and titles and other stuff.

I’m using the Responsive theme but I never updated it when going to 4.3.1 (because when I saw there was an update I checked Live Preview and the Sing page just showed up all black…so I thought maybe I better not update the theme.
If I switch themes, and loss even more, can I switch back?

I’m going to bed….when are you on again?

    Moderator James Huff

    (@macmanx)

Please do try disabling all plugins so we can rule them out.

As for the theme, please do that as well. You can safely switch back after testing.

If you don’t do any of that and at least rule-out all of the various third-party elements (plugins and the theme) it’s really impossible to proceed.

    Thread Starter etwaldman

    (@etwaldman)

OK and thx….will get back to this manana.

Just one more question….if I disable all plugins then various things, like WoWslider and other stuff may still work?…even when disabled?
    (I don’t get it)
