MP4 doesn't work in Firefox

    Gary, Default WordPress Player is the same as MediaElement.js player. right? I am wondering if I need to install MeiaElement.js if it has more features? just wondering… thank you

    No, it isn’t the same as MediaElement player but to have more features, more control and a couple of skinnings, install MediaElement.

    The reason I was installing MediaElement player is to have subtitles feature but then, MP4 video doesn’t work on MediaElement plus it was last updated over a year ago. Not sure if the support for this plugin is discontinued.

    MP4 videos play fine on default wordpress player.

    Gary, thank you for helping! I have been confused on this for a while ?? here is my thought about your problem, maybe it is about preparing MP4 file
    1) choose MP4, H264, AAC
    2) use QTIndexSwapper2 ( https://renaun.com/blog/code/qtindexswapper/ )to move the index at the beginning of the file.

    Indeed, it could be that. I used Handbrake to encode the video to MP4 format but in the end, due to a lack of support (or lack of standard) for subtitles in browsers, I decided to go on the safer route of burning the subtitles into the video with Xvid4psp.

    I have also tried out many media players plugin for wordpress but couldn’t find an ideal one. But wordpress player does a great job of playing mp4 video files well on Firefox and other browsers plus videos loaded quickly so why dig deep beyond wordpress’ own player when I can simply burn the subtitles in videos?

    Anyhow, it seems that I still have some to learn about preparing the videos for the internet, especially with mobile devices.

    Firefox requires .webm format as an alternative to .mp4 (as far as I know).

    According to wordpress, MediaElements.js is at the core of video functionality in wordpress:

    I’m fighting the same issue as you. Mine appears a little more complex as I get a flash fallback in Moz in windows xp, but just a spinning load screen in Win7 on Moz. By installing the plugin to get subtitle support, you may actually be downgrading the js code to a previous version. Try installing:
