    Hi,

I’m using this plugin to let guest post via front-end.
My issue is: guest can upload, and the video thumbnail is generated and stored in my wordpress upload directory. The wordpress post is also created but the actual MP4 generated video file is missing – I can’t find it anywhere in my webserver although the wordpress Media library has an entry for it
You can find an screenshot of the related wordpress media library here
    https://twitpic.com/e4bt01

Any clue how to address it?
    Thank you

    Hery Zo

  • Alright.
I need to check one thing to verify full understanding.
    I get right back.
    Cif

I know it is not fair but :

    I uncheck Display splash image
    I save. It saves options.
I leave the page clicking permalink on the left.
I click right back to video options and it stands there checked.
Several times in a row just now.

    Ah, you’re right, Cif!

I see it now and it is indeed a bug!
Thank you for pointing it out for me!
It’s fixed on your site now. I will be updating the plugin with some fixes as soon as the co-developer is back and can commit the files.

If you need to use the plugin on a different site, please zip up and copy the current copy from your https://alex.kby.li as I made changes to it.

This bug was affecting the presentation of options only though, so unchecked option was taken into account in the front end as, in fact, “unchecked”.

Please let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with.

    Best regards,
    Alex

Dear Alex you are welcome I will continue as there are a few more funny things. but let me check if now I get what I want.

You did this : I changes preload option on video js player from none to auto,

Can I do it myself ?

Something else : the 3gp video loading I am testing does not work with (normal nokia phone not even a smartphone) 13 MB files. It times out.

    Hi Cif,

Regarding preload option changes to auto from none if doesn’t effect the player in any ways, but if you must change it to something other than auto, I’ll add an option under Settings with my next release.

Regarding videos not uploading through the phone, this is an expected behavior since not all mobile devices support default form upload of files. Please take a look at this article outlining the situation: https://viljamis.com/blog/2012/file-upload-support-on-mobile/

    Hope it helps.

    Best regards,
    Alex

    Dear Alex,
    Thanks and got you.
I am uploading from the desktop.
And I am mot saying it does not work. As it does.
But at the given size it times out.

    Hi Cif,

Yes, there might be an issue of timeout if the file is bigger than the specified limits.
You should check the server php.ini configuration to see what upload limits are set.
It’s upload_max_filesize and post_max_size that you wanna take a look at.

    Best regards,
    Alex

    Ah !
    Good point.
It is by default here since this is a test site and actually I took the file I had (just a few in this format) so yes I would need to change the php.ini you are right.
Look I am getting to you on this story of splah and poster.
    Thanks for all.

Alex here is the size limit

Current maximum memory configured in php.ini: 256M

So that does not make sense that it times out on 13 meg.

    Hi Cif,

I have just successfully uploaded a 34 Mb video through the front end uploader on your test site instance: https://alex.kby.li/test-from-front-end/

Are you trying to upload from a tablet or a phone?

Could you please send me a video that times out and a link to the site (if different from above)?

    Best regards,
    Alex

    Hi Alex
    Just seen the video.
I was surprised this is 34 mb as it is very short.
    I am uploading from desktop.
I have to upload the video dropbox.
It is currently playing perfectly on my vlc player. It is 13 mb for 1 minute duration.
I try to upload it to dropbox.

    Hi Cif,

Yes, the video was 34 Mb. It was in mov format, that’s why it was so heavy even being that short. : )

Ok, I’ll wait for the link then and will test the video when I have it.

    Best regards,
    Alex

Hey Alex I was talking of .3gp format.
