• Hi,
I have been using MT for close to a year now, but with their recent decision to be greedy capitalists and not offer anything of any value for the money, I decided to dump them (they can’t turn me around) and chose WordPress as my new solution. However, I can’t seem to get the import process to work…
I’ve read through the posts here and did find another who had the same problem and he was helped out by 2fargon who cut the import file down. Now, let me ask. If this is the problem, can I cut the import file at any arbitrary point between posts and expect the import to work properly? I am goingto try that and see (worst case scenario is I delete the database and reinstall WordPress.
Any help would be most appreciated.

  • I did not have any problem importing from MT. Have you tried? The worse it can happen is that you need to clean your WP database and start over again. Not a biggie.

Yes, if the script gets timed out, or hangs, try splitting it up where a post ends. 700-800 KB import.txt files work fine, in my experience.

    Hi thanks 2fargon…
I did split it roughly in “half (one piece was about 800k and the other was over 1100k) and the import then went smoothly…
