• Hey all!

Out of no where, my website was popping up with an error and would not let me login to the back end. My host support was able to figure what was going on and said there was an issue with the mu-plugins file.

I am not an expert developer and this has never happened to before with any of my sites i have built. With the help of support, they have helped me locate and rename the file to mu-plugins_old which has been causing the issue and will disable all “must used” plugins.

I can now access the back end of the website but I am worried that if all must used plugins are disabled – this would effect the functionality of the site?

Any help or advice on how to fix this error properly?

    thanks!

It depends on what functionality they are providing.

Nonetheless, you should be able figure out which of the mu-plugin is the issue. Reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    Thanks for your response t-p!

Please bare with me, but just to make things clear does the mu-plugin file resemble all the installed plugins that are visible in the wordpress dashboard Plugins Tab? So this wouldn’t resemble any “hidden” plugins that i cannot see in within wordpress?

Right now, I was able to enable all plugins without having issues in the backend which is a relief. But now i am a little confused as to how the mu-plugins_old file works with the website now?

I don’t usually touch any of the files/folders created by WordPress to avoid dysfunctionality. So in this case, i am just wanting to ensure leaving this file renamed won’t cause any errors for the website ??

    thanks!
