• I’m totally PRO changes & improvements, especially for www.ads-software.com which is my all time favorite platform for creating websites. I have been using it since the first release and absolutely LOVE it.

But this release… I’m very unsure if this what we need… I installed the Gutenberg PI on my website (which runs on Avada, by Theme Forest). First, it took away the builder which is included in the theme, forcing me to use the new builder in WP. I’m sorry but it sucks. It’s back to basics without the professional builder. Why would you do this to your highly respected theme-builders?

Secondly, only 2 minutes later my site crashed. Nothing but a white screen was left. No log-in, no admin, no dashboard, nothing. I deleted the PI through my filemanager. After that I could only access the sample page that was created by the Gutenberg PI. Somehow I managed to get back in the dashboard and delete all other evidence regarding to Gutenberg.

You chose Gutenberg as being the face & name of this new interface. Please make it Gutenberg worthy, and I’m afraid to say: you’re not there yet!

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review @treseke. Right now Gutenberg is being worked on and there may well be issues with themes that aren’t compatible, this is something will be iterated on over time and as release comes closer updates to themes will happen.

If you do get the error using one of the default themes please let me know and we can investigate more.

Phase 2 will also be more of what is expected in the form of page building as Gutenberg moves to Customization. However, thank you for taking time to review as it’s important to get feedback now.

Oh no, what a horrible experience. Hope this wasn’t a live site! Gutenberg is still in beta and not ready for any production site. I think the Gutenberg Dev team would be the first to admit that it’s not yet ready for prime time, yet.

I haven’t read anything about the progress the authors of your theme make in adding Gutenberg support. They might be holding back until there is a beta version of WordPress 5.0 available.
As a precaution, just in case your theme developer doesn’t release a Gutenberg-ready version, there is an alternative plugin in the works called the “Classic Editor” (right now also in beta) It’ll prevent an unintentional breakage of your 3rd party page builder once Gutenberg is merged into core. It’s still several months away, though.

Thanks all for the feedback. I appreciate the work you’re doing and agree that WP could use a leap into the future.

Does anybody now when it will be released (more or less)? I just created a WP-course (which cost me about 1000 euros). With this change this course is useless for about 50%… Would be nice to prepare myself for when the new version comes out.

There is no release date set. I would watch this page for changes. https://make.www.ads-software.com/core/5-0/
