Multi-install … kindof? Have already searched and found nothing
-
So I’ve looked as best I could through www.ads-software.com for solutions to this, but I haven’t been able to find any.
What I want is this: To have a flexible site that takes advantage of WordPress when it can but is not dictated by the structure of WordPress. In other words, I don’t want to rewrite the engine but I do want my site to be more than just two blogs.
The site will eventually be a combination of static and dynamic content that I can edit via wp-admin. It will be two blogs in separate directories, plus (‘static’) pages that will not look like blogs but be powered by a blog engine. I update the content through wp-admin but I reformat the specific rendering of the page so it doesn’t contain dates, authors, etc. The page still has comments. The entire site will use one style/theme.
I want something more complex than just the Page feature that WordPress gives us—as far as I understand Pages. (Is there a clean way to style pages in different ways according to the URL?)
I’ve thought about appropriating the Categories feature to divide the site into different directories (blog 1, blog 2, activity “feed”, résumé) but that would involve some ugly hacking, I think.
Anyway, I’m looking for a solution and don’t think WordPress MU or any of the available hacks are for me.
Thoughts?
